Steve's first 18 hole design for the brothers McKie. An attractive and demanding test of golf on a compact site which offers great variety and challenge. The routing winds its way around and through existing stands of trees and outcrops of sandstone bedrock which are carefully integrated into the course routing. Greens are large and softly undulating in a links style which is typical of Steve Marnoch.

Established following quite a long period of obtaining permits which involved David Stubbs as consultant ecologist in negotiating with local authorities and carrying out ecological studies before producing the long terms management strategy and plans. The course was included as an example of good design within the Committed to Green handbook.

All shaping was carried out by Arthur Wilson 'Art' of A B Golf Contractors, still one of this countries best and most well regarded shapers and under the regular site supervision by Steve Marnoch.

Featured in Golf Monthly by Barry Ward as "one of the finest new courses to be opened in recent years".

"it was laid out by Steve Marnoch"..."an architect of the old school, one with strong beliefs in the traditional virtues of golf design. He used the lie of the land to perfection".

"The long 18th hole at Blundell's Hill is close to being a classic".

Now enjoyed by a full membership and booming visitors attendance including local television and sporting celebrities from the Merseyside area. "The fine condition of the course id down to the sheer hard work of Steve who has put his heart and soul into the course" enthused owner Phil Mckie.

The course layout was featured again in Golf Monthly in an article entitled Great Excavations by Steve Muncey on the complexities of building a golf course.
